The man Jesus is worshiped in the scriptures, but not in the same way that his God is worshiped. In Matthew 2 the wise men understood Jesus to be the prophesied ruler/king of Israel (Luke 1:30-35/Acts 2:29-36/Acts 13:19-39/John 1:49) and they fell down and worshiped him- Matthew 2:1-12 (see 1 Chronicles 29:30-all the congregation worshiped the LORD and the king). It has been thoroughly verified that Jesus' God is the Highest- John 17:1-3/1 Thessalonians 1:9-10/1 John 5:20/ John 20:16-17/John 10:29/John 14:28/Ephesians 1:17/2 Corinthians 11:31. There is a worship that is unique to the one God, Jesus includes himself as one who worships the Father- John 4:20-26. In Revelation 4:2,8-11 and 5:9-14, the Lamb is not worshiped as God, his Father, but only as the one that has redeemed us to God by his own blood.
Worship in the scriptures is not always directed to the one God. Only the one God is to be worshiped as the living God. Nebuchadnezzar worshiped Daniel, but not as God. He said to Daniel: "..your God is a God of gods.."- Daniel 2:46-47.
In Mark 5:5-9, the man ran and worshiped Jesus. The unclean spirit cried with a loud voice, and said: What have I to do with the Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. The unclean spirit knew that Jesus was not the most high God, but that he was the son of the most high God.
When the devil was tempting Jesus and tried to make it seem worthwhile for Jesus to worship him, Jesus said, "Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve" (Luke 4:5-8). There is only one that we recognize as the Highest, and it's not Jesus, but his Father as Jesus affirmed. The Father and God of Jesus is worshiped in spirit and in truth-John 4.
